Frequently Asked Questions

Planning a wedding comes with enough questions. This part should be easy. Whether you’re interested in Bridal Boudoir, Editorial Couples, Editorial Brides, or the LUXE Portrait Booth, you’ll find answers to some of our most frequently asked questions below.

Where are you located?

Our portrait studio is located in West Fargo, North Dakota, conveniently serving brides and couples throughout Fargo, Moorhead, West Fargo and surrounding North Dakota and Minnesota communities.

Bridal Boudoir, Editorial Couples and Editorial Brides sessions take place primarily in our West Fargo studio. Our LUXE Portrait Booth travels to weddings, receptions, galas and events throughout the Fargo-Moorhead area and beyond.

What types of bridal photography do you offer?

We offer four distinct photography experiences created with brides, grooms and couples in mind:

Bridal Boudoir for beautiful, intimate portraits before the wedding.

Editorial Couples for sophisticated, magazine-inspired engagement, anniversary and couples portraits.

Editorial Brides for fashion-inspired portraits that put you and your wedding dress in the spotlight.

LUXE Portrait Booth for a celebrity-inspired portrait experience your guests can enjoy right at your wedding or reception.

You can choose one experience or incorporate several throughout your wedding journey.

Do you photograph weddings?

We don’t offer traditional wedding-day photography or ceremony coverage. Our specialty is portrait photography.

Instead of photographing your entire wedding day, we create dedicated portrait experiences before or after your wedding and bring our LUXE Portrait Booth directly to receptions and celebrations.

What is an Editorial Brides session?

Editorial Brides is a studio portrait session inspired by fashion and bridal magazines. Rather than rushing to create portraits of you and your gown during an already busy wedding day, we give you your own photoshoot.

Bring your wedding dress, veil, shoes, jewelry and any other accessories you’d like photographed. We’ll take care of the lighting, posing and details to create polished bridal portraits you’ll want to display long after the wedding.

Should I schedule Editorial Brides before or after my wedding?

Either works beautifully.

Schedule your session before the wedding if you’d like portraits ready to display at your reception or give as gifts. Choose after the wedding if you’d rather keep your gown completely untouched beforehand or simply want another excuse to put it on.

And yes, getting to wear your wedding dress again is absolutely a good enough reason.

What is an Editorial Couples session?

Editorial Couples is our take on couples and engagement photography. Instead of traditional outdoor engagement photos, these sessions have a more sophisticated, styled and fashion-inspired feel.

They’re perfect for engagements, anniversaries, newlyweds or couples who simply want incredible portraits together.

Can we use our Editorial Couples portraits as engagement photos?

Absolutely. Editorial Couples portraits are perfect for engagement announcements, save-the-dates, wedding websites, reception displays and social media.

They’re especially suited to couples looking for engagement photography in Fargo-Moorhead that’s a little different from the traditional engagement session.

We’re awkward in photos. Will you help us pose?

Completely.

You don’t need modeling experience, and you don’t need to arrive knowing what to do in front of the camera. You’ll be guided through posing, body placement, expressions and interaction throughout your session.

That’s our job.

Your job is simply to show up together.

Will you help us decide what to wear?

Yes. Wardrobe plays a big part in creating the editorial look.

We’ll help you choose clothing that photographs beautifully together while still feeling like you. Depending on the session, pieces from our studio client wardrobe may also be available to incorporate into your looks.

What is a Bridal Boudoir session?

Bridal Boudoir is a private portrait experience created around you before your wedding. Your session can be romantic, glamorous, sexy, understated or a combination of everything.

Many brides create a boudoir album as a wedding gift for their partner, while others book the experience simply because they want to celebrate themselves during this chapter of their lives.

Do I have to wear lingerie for Bridal Boudoir?

Not at all.

Lingerie is only one option. A bridal veil, oversized white shirt, bodysuit, robe, beautiful dress, blazer or something borrowed from your partner can all photograph beautifully.

Our studio also has an extensive client wardrobe with options in a wide range of sizes, so you don’t have to arrive with an entire suitcase of outfits.

Is hair and makeup available?

Professional hair, makeup and lashes are available with select portrait experiences and packages. We’ll go over all of the details when planning your session so you know exactly what to expect before you arrive.

What is the LUXE Portrait Booth?

LUXE is our luxury alternative to the traditional wedding photo booth.

There is no kiosk and no iPad. A professional photographer is behind the camera using studio lighting and guiding your guests through flattering poses.

Portraits receive our signature black-and-white finish, are retouched onsite and printed as beautiful glossy 4×6 portraits for your guests to take home.

It’s part portrait studio, part entertainment and a very fun addition to a wedding reception.

Is LUXE the same as a regular photobooth?

LUXE offers a completely different experience from a traditional photo booth. Instead of a kiosk, touchscreen, props, or photo strips, your guests are photographed by a professional photographer using studio lighting and guided posing. The result is a polished, celebrity-inspired portrait experience that gives your guests beautiful photographs they’ll genuinely want to keep.

Do guests receive their LUXE portraits at the wedding reception?

Yes. Portraits are professionally photographed, retouched and printed onsite during your event. Guests receive glossy 4×6 prints they can take home that evening.

How far does LUXE Events ND travel?

LUXE serves weddings and events throughout Fargo, Moorhead, West Fargo and surrounding North Dakota and Minnesota communities. Travel outside our standard service area may also be available depending on your event date and location.

Contact us with your venue and wedding date and we’ll let you know what’s possible.

Can we book more than one experience?

Absolutely, and we love when couples do.

You might schedule Editorial Couples for your engagement portraits, Bridal Boudoir before your wedding, Editorial Brides after the celebration and have LUXE entertaining guests at your reception.

Each experience is completely different while still having the same polished, portrait-focused style.

How far in advance should we book?

For portrait sessions, we recommend reaching out several months before you need your finished photographs, particularly if you’re planning to use them for save-the-dates, wedding displays or gifts.

For LUXE wedding portrait booth reservations, earlier is always better because popular wedding dates can book well in advance.

Do you work with people who have never had professional portraits taken?

All the time.

Most of our clients aren’t models and don’t spend their weekends posing for magazine covers. You don’t need to be naturally photogenic or comfortable in front of a camera.

With more than 15 years of portrait photography experience, we know how to guide you through the entire process so you can relax and enjoy it.

Do you photograph LGBTQ+ couples?

Yes. Our Editorial Couples experiences and wedding portrait services welcome couples who want beautiful, sophisticated portraits together.

How do we get started?

Start by choosing the experience that catches your eye… Bridal Boudoir, Editorial Couples, Editorial Brides or the LUXE Portrait Booth.

Send us an inquiry with a little information about yourself, your wedding date if you have one, and what you’re interested in. We’ll send you additional details and help you decide which experience is the right fit.
